Carrying on the Danish theme, hereøs our top three Danish bands that you should see today, if )like us= youøre lucky enough to be at Roskilde Festival..

The Rumour Said Fire- And indeed, the rumours did fire. Imagine This Is Ivy League met Simon and Garfunkel  and Fleet Foxes on a blissful, sunshine filled afternoon filled with laughter and beer, then you’re almost there.  With harmonies to fill your day with sunshine and your heart with joy, surely they’re goping to make it big this year?

The Floor Is Made of Lava-  All Juice, No Fruit? Perhaps, but this lovable dance-rock group really are hard to pin down. Attempt to do it for yourselves later today…

Turboweekend- Late edition tothe programme, and can only be described as a Danish LCD Soundsystem or Klaxons, bu much, much better….

So go!

If you’re wondering what we got up to last night, you’ll have to wait and see. That said, our non-Danish speaker now knows all of the words to Nephew’s biglingual “En Wannabe Darth Vader”, so we’ve got a lot of things to tell you…

Baron Kriminel- the alter ego of sometime Danish avantgarde pop guru, label owner and former DJ and TV presenter Kristian Leth provides an outlet for something entirely different to his main band, the William Blakes (whose soundsoaked tunes have been inhabiting our heads for a couple of years now). Anythign thatøæs described as being “equal parts haitian tradition and flashis…ng, after midnight nightclubs” has to be worth seeing…

Teddybears- Can’t decide what kind of music to listen to? See Teddybears, as they can’t decide which style to play. Fantastic for those indecisive moments.

Casiokids- If only for the catchy, sugar sweet song about the lost dog that everyone seems to be playing this year at the festival. Can’t understand Norwegian? Don’t worry. Just replace the words with random ones of your choice.

Nisnnenmondai- Playing post-punk noisy fun music that has been cited as an influence by many recent breakthrough band, Nissenmondai are the choice for you if you’re a muso who can’t resist the tempatation that Melt Banana or Shonen Knife placed in your way in the 90s…

A few things we saw at Roskilde on Thursday…and a few we shouldn’t have been exposed to on a Thursday night when we had heatstroke.
Electrojuice – blissful blissful hypnotic electronic. Perfect for that festival vibe when guitars just aren’t what you’re feeling. Need we say more?
Serena Maneesh- Mmmmm.
RebekkaMaria- The queen of our hearts, as well [...]

So far, Popgeist’s intrepid reporters have been in Denmark for nearly four  days and have managed to catch a total of two bands in the pre-festival. It would have been more, but we’ve been suffering a particularly bad case of heatstroke, which resulted in us going to sleep in a cathedral.
Unfortunately, Monday’s trip to see [...]

…or rather Popgeist is currently at Roskilde Festival. No, not in the same way that Debbie did Dallas, but…well… as an experiment, Roskilde Festival have allowed Popgeist to send a hard-to-impress reporter to seek out the music that should soundtrack your summer.
Between seeing bands and getting severe heatstroke we’ll be attempting to tell you about [...]

She’s Good Natured

As 2009’s wave of electro-pop girls breaks on the shore of pop consciousness, only to be washed over by 2010’s influx of male synth duos (I have no idea where this is going), The Good Natured (aka Sarah McIntosh) has sauntered in having avoided the rush, and seems like she’s going to make a splash [...]
