The Bang Bang Club isn’t an actual club, but if it was it’d be a bloody good one. They are in fact John and David, who used to be part of the band Protocol but have struck out alone to make insanely addictive, slightly sleazy electro-pop.

The Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode comparisons are obvious, but they’ll also fit in alongside MGMT and even give a passing nod to Girls Aloud’s heavier moments.

2010 looks like it’ll be another strong year for pop, and for synths in particular. If Hurts are the brooding, monochrome male synth duo of choice for next year, Bang Bang Club are the duo to turn to when you’ve finished brooding and are ready for partying – just check out ‘Dance With The Devil’ and ‘Chemistry’ on their Myspace. But they can do serious too – ‘Under The Influence’ is an enormous lighters-aloft ballad which really shows off the band’s depth.
