Drive Like I Do are either shrouded in mystery, or our Google-fu has badly let us down. We could actually do some research and ask around, but that would be dangerously close to proper old-fashioned journalism.
All we know is that the band are from Wilmslow near Manchester, and have songs which seem to veer between epic pop, indie, and the post-rock of Explosions in the Sky or Red Sparrowes.
‘Robbers’ is the quinetessential lighters-aloft ballad with the odd vocal moment that suggests a more emo influence. ‘Sex’ is far more poppy, and almost a throwback to the the likes of Boy Kill Boy and the great indie-band-with-keyboard glut of 2006. However, _28_ (video below) is an intense, claustrophobic post-rock track with an amazing video of the variety that would have knocked your socks off had it appeared on MTV2’s 120 minutes (RIP). It sounds like a different band. Maybe it is a different band. That’d be embarrassing.
Despite the mystery, the band have fairly heavyweight management on board so presumably plans are afoot. Tell us in the comments if you know anything more…
